According to the VAT Consolidation Act (2010):
cash register records and supporting documents (either paper or electronic) are generally required to be kept for a period of 6 years
records may be stored by an electronic process, provided that the records can be displayed, printed and reproduced in an intelligible form
cash register records entries in electronic format have to be uniquely identifiable by sequential number, date and time.
