Particularly in seasonal operations, small business owners make sure to keep fixed costs as low as possible: When business is paused, it is best not to incur any monthly expenses. When it comes to the POS system, the decision is often "logically" in favour of the ready2order monthly subscription. But is this really the better choice? We do the maths.

When does the ready2order annual subscription pay off?

If you buy a ready2order monthly base package, you pay 34.99 euros. That's 419.88 euros per year - but only 359.88 euros for an annual subscription! For gastronomes, the bill looks just as good: If you buy a ready2order monthly licence, you pay 46.98 euros (incl. gastro package). For annual operation, monthly licences would cost 563.76 euros - if you take out an annual subscription, you'll save considerably less at 479.76 euros!

That's how much you save in 12 months with the annual subscription:

  • 60 euros with the base package annual subscription
  • 84 euros with the annual subscription plus gastro package

"Fine, but I don't use my cash register all year round - what's the point of an annual licence?". A justified objection, which is why we have calculated for you what the theoretical savings mean in practice.

  • With the base subscription, you save the equivalent of 2 months of a single licence. This means that the annual licence is already worthwhile from 9 months of seasonal operation!
  • The same applies to the Gastro segment: here, too, you save 2 months' worth of individual licences. The annual subscription is therefore also worthwhile from 9 months of use.

And you also save on indirect costs with the annual subscription.

Labour costs - the "invisible" cost factor

The POS system subscription itself is only one of the factors in the calculation. You also save on labour costs with the annual subscription: it typically takes between 3 and 5 hours to set up all products and data. The more products, the more employee authorisations, etc., the more hours you need to allow for.

Of course, this also goes faster from time to time: those who set up their seasonal business every year have practice and need less time. But it is still an effort. If, for example, we assume a minimum wage of 12.70 euros/hour and calculate 4 hours of work for the system set-up, this results in labour costs of 50.80 euros each time - which you only have to invest once with an annual subscription.

Don't forget: Minimize activation fee!

With an annual POS system subscription (without the Gastro package), you save 60 euros (plus an average of 50.80 euros in labour costs, i.e. 110.80 euros). There is also a 99 euro activation fee, which is only due once with the annual subscription - whereas with the monthly subscription it is due again with every activation without the cash register archive service.

If you use your cash register continuously, you save 110.80 euros plus 99 euros activation fee from the 2nd year onwards, i.e. a whole 209.80 euros. And that corresponds to a good 7 months of a single licence. A simple annual subscription is therefore already worthwhile from 5 months of seasonal operation per year, if you factor in working time and the activation fee!

Please note that this calculation only includes the minimum wage: With a realistic entrepreneur's salary, the savings are incomparably higher! You should also consider this argument if you are thinking about using a free POS system or renting a POS system.

Self-running in annual operation

With an annual subscription, your data remains unchanged in the system: you only need to check your entries if there are changes to your business or product range. No headaches, no effort - at the start of the season you can simply switch on and get started!
